General Informations


DOCUMENTS: individual passport.

CURRENCY: monetary unit is the Lek. 1 euro is about 140 Lek. 1 Lek is divided in 100 Quindarka. The change is effected in bank or at the change office in the hotels.

SHOP HOURS: 9am-8pm BANK HOURS: 8am-3pm

LANGUAGE: the official language is albanian but most people speak italian and english.

CLIMATE: tipically mediterranean with hot summers and mild winters (very cold in the mountainos region) with frequent precipitations.

SHOPPING: the best objects of craftsmanship are in the shops of the hotels, where you can buy in value. These are: boxes, plates and small statues of wood, dolls of cloth, carpets, briar pipes and objects of filigree of silver and copper. The typical ntaional liqueur is the "raki".

TIRANA: national museum, Skanderbeg Square, panorama tour of the city, Heroes' Cemetery with the monument of the mother country, artificial lake.

KRUJA: visit of the art-city with the museum dedicated to the national hero Skanderbeg and the etnographic museum.

DURRES: visit of the city, archeological museum nad excavations.

APOLLONIA: archeological museum and excavations.

BERAT: visit of the art-city with characteristic buildings.

GIROKASTER: visit of the museum city, the castle, the museum of arms and the etnographic museum.

SARANDE: visit of the city on the Ionian Sea, the salt lake and excavations of Butrinti and the bay of Ksamil.

LEZHE: visit of the tomb of the national hero Skanderbeg.

KORCE: visit of the Metropoli church, the museum of icons, the first albanian school and the visit of Voskopoja with its church, especially the church of Saint Mary.

SHKODER: visit of Rozafa castle, the museum of photography Marubi, the archeological museum and the Middle bridge.

TIRANA: HOTEL ROGNER, EUROPAPARK: 5 star, centrally located. All rooms with TV, telephone, minibar, hair dryer. It has a restaurant, a fitness center, a bar, conference rooms, a swimmingpool and tennis. Austrian managament.

TIRANA: HOTEL TIRANA INTERNATIONAL: 4 star, centrally located, close to all Embassies and Ministries amongst a huge mediterranean garden. All rooms with private services, TV and telephone. It has a restaurant, a fitness center, a bar, a pergola, a conference rooms and free internet connection.

BERAT: HOTEL TOMORRI: 2/3 star, centrally located. Renovated in 1995, it has a restaurant and a bar.

DURRES: HOTEL ARVI, HOTEL ADRIATIK.
